A memorable day was enjoyed by all who attended the Freedom Day celebrations in Aberdeen on April 27th. The event was organised on behalf of the DA Karoo Midlands constituency by Eldrige Ruiters, PR councillor from Aberdeen.
About 70 people attende the festivities, and one of the highlights on the sporting side was a netball game between the DAWN ladies and the DA Youth. In thiscase, Youth triumphed over experience, with the youngsters trouncing the ladies by six goals to one! There was also a fun walk, touch rugby, and soccer for the children.
Ruiters spoke about the significance of Freedom Day, emphasising that freedom is a choice, and democracy is a right that must be exercised responsibily. He also read out a message from the branch constituency leader MP Donald Smiles of Middelburg, who was unable to attend due to a prior commitment. Councillors Samantha Jankovich and Jonny Lewis also spoke on behalf of their respective municipalities, Camdeboo and Ikwezi.
The morning finished with light refreshments, sponsored by the DA constituency.
