Maureen MacAndrew organized a very successful cake and bric-a-brac sale in aid of animal welfare . MacAndrew, together with Lynn Holdt of Aberdeen Kennels, does sterling work on behalf of KAPS in the town and townships. The two regularly drive around the townships to check on abandoned and ill-treated animals, unfortunately finding more and more strays and unwanted pets. Money is always needed, for taking injured animals to the vet in Graaff-Reinet, and to feed the stray animals that end up under Holdt’s wing at the Kennels.
Many local animal lovers volunteered to make cakes, while some folk who were not able to bake donated ingredients or cash. Many of the popular items were sold out even before the official starting time! Assorted donated bric-a-brac was also on offer, with some very unusual items.
A grand total of over R1000 was raised from the combined sales, and MacAndrew and Holdt were delighted with this wonderful effort. They are very grateful to all those who baked or donated, as well of course as those who came and supported the sale.
